Our Funeral Services
Our team of professional funeral directors at Virgo Funerals understands the importance of respecting a family’s wishes when it comes to the death of their loved one. This is why we always incorporate the values of inclusivity and diversity in our funeral services.
FUNERAL SERVICES
- Christian burial services
- Secular burial services
- Memorial services
Holding a memorial wake after the funeral service is also a common practice among Australians.
Christian Burial Services
A Christian burial service usually has 5 parts. The Bidding is where the priest welcomes everyone and is also an invitation to remember the deceased. The Word discusses in general the life lived of the deceased, while the Prayer is usually a reference to the death and resurrection of the Lord.
The Commendation and Farewell is where grieving family and friends have their final moments with the deceased, and the Committal is where the deceased is moved to a crematorium or lowered into the ground for burial.
Secular Burial Services
A professional celebrant is usually the one who officiates during a secular service. The details of the service itself can be customised depending on the wishes of the deceased and the family’s needs.
Memorial Services
A memorial service is held if the deceased does not have a body for a number of reasons. The body might not have been released by the Coroner, inrecoverable from sea or an inaccessible location, buried elsewhere or donated to medical science.
If the deceased is a public figure, our team of funeral directors can arrange for a private viewing for immediate family and friends and a public memorial for the public to view the remains of the deceased.
Wakes
Wakes are usually held after a funeral service and are a great opportunity for family and friends to relieve their memories with their departed loved one. This can be as simple as an intimate get together or it can also be arranged in a function room of your choice by a funeral director.
Our team of compassionate funeral care staff are capable of arranging funeral services and wakes so you and your family can grieve properly. Get in touch with us and let us discuss how you can better memorialise your loved one.
